Hey Irene

It's been a long weekend. We managed to fit in some good times even though we had a serious case of cabin fever by late Sunday evening. Our house held up well and we were thankful that we had power. Some of our friends are still without. Here are some highlights from our hurricane filled weekend...

Very focused and trying to crawl

I love that she does this, when she is focusing. It's exactly what both my Dad and I do. She is a Will!

Scooching!

Laurelea is so close to to crawling. She has developed a new mode of transportation that we like to call the scooch. I think we could have some time as Irene is approaching for her to master these skills. We will keep our video camera in hand but you might not get more updates until after this storm passes.

Pretty in Plaid

We had Fiona and Heather over for dinner last night. Sean is away this week for work. Who would have thought it possible, but both girls were sporting plaid so of course we had to take pictures. Here are some of the highlights from our play time.

Bladensburg Park Picnic

Breaks work! Don't worry, but I had to get a picture of this off roading adventure.
Heather, Fiona, Laurelea and I went on quite the adventure today. We were very thankful that we have very expensive strollers that made this off roading trip doable. We headed to Bladensburg Park, which is such a nice park and walk from our house. We had lunch by the water, the girls were absolutely perfect the entire trip. Great company, good food and a little adventure was just was our Saturday needed.

She needed to get out for a bit so she hung out on a blanket

As Laurelea is over 6 months old we thought it would be fun to look at the compilation of pictures of her and Woody over the last 6 months. We are with her every day so we don't get to see all the changes in her, but it has been quite a journey through these last six months. It's hard to imagine when she was that small and her first month picture with Woody. One thing that has stayed constant with her is her fiesty, zest for life personality! We have cherished every minute with her and can't wait to see all the changes and milestones that she will go through over the next 6 months. Love you Sugarbee!

Fun times with Grammy

Grammy was here for just a short visit but we did a lot of fun things in that short amount of time. We've all been under the weather but we still got out and about the town. L has been a trooper considering she has a double ear infection and her cold has moved into her chest. The doctor even commented on how impressed she was with her disposition considering how sick she is. Here are some fun moments from Grammy's visit this past week. We just hope that this cold stuff stays in DC and that Grammy did not take it back with her to Texas.
We headed down to the White House. Unfortunately the family was not around to come out and greet us :)

Day at the Zoo with Grammy

Grammy came back in town to spend a few days with us before she had to go back to school. It was perfectly timed as L and I have a couple of days off as her daycare is closed. The weather has cooled off so we headed to the zoo. L loved every minute of the zoo. We were there for several hours and she was so thrilled to be out and about and take it all in. I do think that the panda's were her favorite this trip, and elephants were of course a close second.

The man taking the picture was kinda scary...

L and Grammy checking out the Alpaca

Cows are very exciting too

We got there right when the elephants were eating

The donkey's were just okay

But the Panda's oh, the Panda's were something else. They were eating right as we got there.

I'm not sure if she like all the animals or the people better?

She got a few new books from Neen and Grammy

As you can imagine...she loves them!

Sick Baby

It's official L has her first cold. We thought it might be teething but after waking up for the last 3 days all stuffed up we know it's a cold. Plus Cory and I have come down with it as well. So we lasted just about a week at daycare before we were all sick. I know this is how it goes when you have a child in daycare but it's still tough on us all.

Getting read to crawl.

Still all smiles even with a funny nose

She is very serious about her shoes. These are her favorite pair. She's not a fan of wearing them as much as she is playing with them.

Neen gave L these pants when she was just 6 weeks old. I thought that it would be forever until she could wear them. They were huge compared to her then. Thankfully she is getting some use out of them before labor day as we know ladies don't wear white pants past labor day :)

P.S. Teething Sucks!

We had some friends over yesterday afternoon for HH and L was acting a little funny. Funny by 10 p.m. turned into full on rage. Our poor little L has had a rough 24 hours. We were up at least every two hours with her last night alternating between giving her baby Tylenol and aspirating her nose (which she hates). The good news is that her first tooth has broken through. The bad news is that we still have a mouth full of others to go. She's been running a slight temperature all day and not really a fan of the idea of leaving either of us for more than a few minutes. Day care is going to be a treat tomorrow. I tried to get a picture of the tooth... not so successful...

Even though she has been in a lot of pain overall she still has been smiling for most of the day

She loved her cup of joe teether (chew toy)
