Kite Flying

We spent the afternoon flying Laurelea's new kite from Grammy in the field next to the farmhouse. On our last trip we got to watch a little boy fly his kite in the field and L was pretty excited to try it out and do it herself.
L and Cory headed out into the field adjacent to the house

ER Trip

Our second big trip out to the farmhouse was quite traumatic for all involved. L and I were trying to go from one bedroom to another and she slipped and fell head over heals down the staircase. It felt like it was in slow motion as I was standing right there and watched her bounce down the stairs. She had her coat on and the stairs are carpeted so those things helped I'm certain. She reacted similarly to if she had just tripped and hurt her knee. She cried for a few minutes, we put an ice pack on her head and thought she was fine.

We needed to head into town to pick up a few things from the hardware store. I looked back and there was blood coming out of her noise. We both freaked and rushed her to the ER. She was seen almost immediately and the doctor reassured us that it did not appear that she had a head injury and that the noise bleed was unrelated. It was one of the shortest ER visits we have ever had and helped us both breathe knowing that she was okay.

Here are a few pictures once we had the green light that all was fine and that she was okay.

Celebrating Neen

Core, L, Neen, Caroline and Alyson
We celebrated Neen's 80th birthday at Bob's Steak House in Grapevine. It was quite the occasion. We had a private room, which worked out perfectly for the little ones, but also allowed us all to move around and connect. The party could not have gone better and Neen looked fabulous. Who can believe that she is 80?

Neen getting some money for L's purse. She loved having her own money.

Ready to Party

We've been looking forward to Neen's party for sometime. We were there a little early so we took some family shots around the restaurant.
L ready to party in her adorable dress from Neen with her red sparkle purse from Grammy. The purse was a hit!

how cute are they?

Spending time with Grandpa

heading over to Grandpa's
We brought lunch over to eat in Grandpa's back yard. It was perfect weather and we spent a lot of time running around. L was a tad attached to a certain Uncle :)

Grandpa and Grandma have a huge garden out back. Grandpa and L picked an onion.

she ate the whole thing

We were bummed that we were unable to see Grandma as she was in Utah.

Texas Bluebonnets

We traveled to Dallas over the weekend to surprise Neen for her 80th Birthday. Before the festivities we did some serious play time around Grammy's house. Texans are known for their love of  bluebonnets and L had an inert sense of appreciation.

Bluebonnets are great but L loved all the dandilions

After our neighborhood hunt for bluebonnets we headed to Grammy's park!

Kisses from Uncle Chris

It's still a little chilly to take a dip in Grammy's pool but we had to feel it

First Haircut

We've been waiting a long time for this, so at 26 months L got her first haircut. She was a tad apprehensive at first, but they had lollipops so the world was good and L did so well, not even a peep out of her.

look at that pig tail- it was time to get a trim

Farmhouse

On Thursday we closed on our vacation property in Great Cacapon, West Virginia. We bought an old 1900 farmhouse on just over 2 acres of land. We decided to start a separate blog on all things farmhouse/renovations news/etc. We want to keep this blog dedicated to L, but I'm sure there will be some overlap.  Here is the link to the farmhouse blog: www.weboughtafarmhouse.blogspot.com

Laurelea loves her farmhouse. When we asked her about it after we got home yesterday, her response was "it's cute". When we asked her her favorite part about the farmhouse her reply was "running around". Our little Bee was quite tuckered out and slept the best she has ever slept. Here are some fun shots of L exploring her farmhouse!
this is our first meal as a family in the farmhouse

L loves running over the air vent in the dining room

these crackers are so much better at the farmhouse!

The only real furniture in the farm house is this little table that was mine and Karli's when we were kids. L loved having a table to eat at.

Here is a picture of the house from the river. It is quite a hike for little L.
