Introducing the pacifier

We introduced the pacifier over the last couple of days. She was not a fan at first, so we went to Babies R' Us and ransacked all the pacifiers. We found one that she likes (Avent). An extra 5 minutes makes a world of difference for us as our daughter does not like to sleep during the day.

Nana and Papa's Trip Highlights

Woody is here! Woody was a gift that Laurelea's namesake (my Aunt Laurie) gave me the day that I was born. On every birthday I had my picture taken with Woody. He was the one thing that I really wanted for her nursery and he is finally here!

Presents from friends and family. My parents had to ship Woody and the duck, and both survived as did all the generous gifts that people sent. The duck was a gift from Uncle Marty and belonged to Laurie's son, Joey. He rocks and Laurelea is pretty excited to try him out.

First Trip to the National Zoo

While Nana and Papa were here the weather turned unusually warm for Feb so we were able to venture out to the Zoo. Laurelea loved the trip with the exception of the goats. She is not a fan of goats and I have to say I can't blame her.

Weekend Adventures

We've learned that our daughter does not like to sleep during the day. She is generally up from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. We've had to become pretty creative to keep us all entertained. Here are some highlights from our weekend!

Today is a huge day for Laurelea, as we busted out the burnt orange attire. We have a large collection but this is the only outfit that currently fits. Watch out world here comes the newest and cutest horns fan!

First Week Update

We went to the pediatrician yesterday and are happy to report that Laurelea gained some weight and is now a whopping 8 lbs 2 oz. We still need to keep up with the sun bathing, but the doctor was impressed with the decrease in the appearance of jaundice. We are happy to report that we have a healthy week old baby!

Hiccups

She gets the hiccups several times a day. At first it startled all of us, now we have adapted and the doctor confirms that it is okay and "totally normal". At the very end of this video is a special treat, listen carefully :)

First Bath

Laurelea had her first bath this morning. She was not a fan of the washing part, so we won't post that video  but loved the lotion and snuggling part of the process. It also helped that Cory put a portable heater right next to the bath for her.

Laurelea, Live and in Concert

We had our first trip to the pediatrician yesterday. We both really like the care and attention that she paid to Laurelea and felt really confident with her recommendations and ability to listen to our wishes. Laurelea has jaundice so we have been monitoring that and are giving her some sunbathing time every day.

Our dearest daughter arrived last night, 2/1/11, at 10:52 p.m., weighing 7 lbs, 12 oz.  She is 20" long and has fine, curly dark brown hair.  The hair may or may not be straightening . . .
