L and I had a great conversation at lunch today. She has been super chatty lately and really loves to hear herself talk. I am the stupid Mom who asked the wrong question (well any question sparks this reaction these days), so please no one take offense but I had to post as it was so cute. She really does love everyone :)

Me and my Bee
After a few weeks of amazing weather, the weather gods had a chill weekend in mind for us as they have showered us with rain for the last 48 hours. We've spent a lot of time inside and finally decided to get out and about and find us some craw fish for our craw fish party next weekend. L loves her rain coat from Aunt Shirley and Uncle Dick, thanks a bunch!

Don't fence me in
Before |
This week as part of our never ending home improvement project we had a fence installed. It was the one thing that we really felt that we needed for Laurelea. Our road out front of our house is pretty busy and so the safety factor was a big part of making this decision. It is an adjustment for us all, but I think over time it will grow on us.
Checking it out |

New editing feature.. kinda cool |
George, Clay and Lonna were the first of our friends to come over and see the new fence. George was pretty excited about our new fence. |
What a little cutie! |

A boo boo and some blossoms
When we went to pick up L from day care yesterday she had quite the boo boo on her cheek. I of course freaked out, but it does look a lot worse than it actually is. Nubia and Sulma said she cried for only a little bit and did it while playing inside and caught an edge of a book shelf. It was bound to happen and we are so thankful that her fall missed her eye.
So while L was in distress at day care I was walking around at lunch admiring the cherry blossoms. My office is located right above the tidal basin. They bloomed early this year and the actual festival is not slated for another few weeks.

Before and after and some beer
Before |
Today was a day we dedicated to painting the deck. It was long over due, and after scrubbing, filling in the gaps, we were ready to paint. We had a baby sitter come over to help watch L so we could tackle this project. We are pretty happy with the results.
After |
To celebrate we headed to a Beer garden in DC. We've been wanting to go there for sometime. It was fun but not the kid friendly environment that we are accustomed to in our neck of woods.

Off to the beach...
Striking a pose. I was worried that we would not get any bathing suit shots out by the beach |
On a whim we decided to head out to Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis. We have taken L there once before and she loved it. I don't know what is wrong with our child but all she wanted to do was spend time in the water and eat the sand.
The water was probably just above 50 degrees and we kept having to pull her out because she never wanted to leave the water. We tried to regulate the sand eating but eventually gave up. The beach and L get along very well. I expect we will be making frequent trips this Spring and Summer.
Showing dad her suit and flops. These flops were the first thing we bought when we found out we were pregnant. |
Wondering if all this sand is for real? |
Had to try some to see how it tastes (why is this genetic?) |
Running to the water |
"oh hey, Mom" |
Stomping in the water. She was getting pretty brave. |
Trying to have some lunch. Someone had other ideas of what she wanted to do. |

Cory dug a hole just her size. |

Monsters
At day care they play Monsters. How the game works is Angel brings his favorite blanket every day and they take turns throwing it over each other and walking around. Laurelea absolutely loves this game and wants to play it all the time. It feels almost mean sometimes to let her roam around without being able to see, but we often justify it by telling ourselves that it is helping her with balance.

Random Pics
Me and L- super funny shot! |
Every once in awhile I like to add some random pictures that I've taken of my phone. Here are some of my favorites over the last month.
Down having lunch with Cory in front of the Smithsonian castle.
A sun kissed Laurelea. Forgot the sunscreen, which is a good reminder that Spring has arrived early this year.

Stroll with the Clarks
L at Jacob's Landing along the Potomac river |
This morning we got up extra early as we lost the hour and headed out for a 5 mile walk with the Clark's (Jacob, Molly, and Lucy). The girls loved the half way point where they could get out and run around. It was a chilly morning but it warmed up by the end of the walk.
Love this! |
Lucy found a walking stick |
L found a stick her size and did a little rock climbing |

Avery and her Mom Esther came over for a walk and cake. It was Avery's first time having rice cake and she was a fan. |
