Apple picking with some pumpkins on the side

This morning we headed out to Butler's Orchard. We've been there lots of times before. We were there this time last year. The year before for apple picking we went to another farm. Bottom line is, come September we love to pick apples. Problem is that we continue to miss the prime picking time. We've got to remember to do this earlier next year... The up side of going so late was that we got to pick some pumpkins too!

Not entirely certain why the Elmo hat was needed today?

Hey Dad, "you want some"

After apples we headed out to find the perfect pumpkin

Let's Hops Hop

Saturday was the Hyattsville annual Hops Hop. This is one of our favorite Fall events in the hood. We all meet at Magruder Park for a potluck picnic and then are divvy into 4 teams and hop from one house to another to drink beer. Every 45 minutes or so we are told to move and we move onto another house. We didn't make it past the first stop and picnic as we had L and didn't have a sitter. We co-hosted this year at Boe and Gillian's house. It was such fun co-hosting...Here are some pictures from last year's Hop!

Clark Elioak Farm

Fall is here! This morning we met up with Daley, Lola and Bethany at Clark Elioak Farm. We've been here several times before and always have such a good time. We went about a year and a half ago with Karli and Jason, and when she was super small to pick pumpkins.

 Lola!
 Daley
 These were a favorite
Daley and Lola rode ponies. L wanted nothing to do with that. So she ate her snack and watched them ride. She took a pretty big spill and so she was not herself...

They have a small petting area so Daley and Lola fed the goats. Again, L was not interested...

Very unsure about feeding the  animals
She did hold my arm while I fed the sheep
She loved the little tea cup

 We had a picnic lunch
All the kids in the tea cup
Some good perspective on her size...
They have a little pumpkin patch. This was probably her favorite part. She was so excited to pick a pumpkin. She found one and wouldn't let go.

You can see here on her forehead where she fell. She came down a slide and landed on her head :(

Feeling Awkward

I know it's kind of a strange post, but it is how we felt most of the weekend... We headed out to the Farmhouse and on our way into Berkeley Springs saw a smile sign for a garage sale in the big town of Great Cacapon.. so we stopped and realized that it was a car show, bounce house, bake sale extravaganza. We walked around feeling very much like I'm sure we looked, as "out-of towners". I did get a cool picture from the car show of this neat old truck:

Cory wanted to watch a football game so L I shopped a little at the thrift stores and then happened upon a patriotic/Elvis impersonator in downtown Berkeley Springs. We sat down and watched him for a bit..feeling yet again very much as the "out-of-towners"..
We did get to see some of the leaves changing and that was incredible. We are bummed that we have to miss the next few weeks out there due to schedule conflicts. Here is a good picture of how it looks out there right now:
Once we got home we decided to crash a neighborhood block party. Not our finest of moves well considering we are not really part of this hood, but they did have a bounce house that L loved:
And because she is so sticking cute and insists on wearing Longhorn gear at all times, here are a few pictures from this morning:
So we've learned some lessons this week. Stick to horns gear at all times and stay away from random gatherings of people we don't really know :)
